Alvar Renqvist PrizeThe Finnish Book Foundation established the Alvar Renqvist Prize in 1998. The prize is awarded in recognition of meritorious publishing activity. The prize is financed from the Alvar Renqvist fund, part of the Finnish Book Foundation fellowship fund. The award sum is 3,000 euros. The publishing editor plays a key role in the making of a book, acting as the representative of the publisher in the relationship with the book´s author, as well as representing the author in the internal activity of the publishing house. The work of a good publishing editor often remains unnoticed in the background: its absence, however, will always reveals itself in the finished work. The prize can be awarded to a publishing editor who has performed distinguished work for the benefit of Finnish books and literature, whether in the field of domestic or translated literature, books for children and young people, non-fiction, textbooks or electronic publishing. The prize is awarded by the Board of the Finnish Book Foundation from a proposal by the three-member administrative committee for the Alvar Renqvist fund.
